Scar Revision

• Procedure - Improves the appearance or the function of tissues where scar is located by various methods.  This may include dilute steroid injections, removal of the scars, and closure with adjacent tissue.
• Length - 15 minutes to 2 hours.
• Anaesthesia - General.
• In/Outpatient - Outpatient.
• Side effects - Swelling, Bruising, Soreness, Numbness.
• Risks - Infection, Bleeding, Conspicuous scars, Poor wound healing, Need for additional surgery or treatment.
• Recovery - Back to work same day to less than 1 week.  Strenuous activities 3 to 4 weeks.  Fading of scars 6 months to a year.
