Chemical Peels
Glycolic Acid (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) - fruity acid peel
superficial depth.
TCA (Tri Chloro Acetic Acid) - medium depth
- Procedure -
Restore
wrinkled, blemished, unevenly pigmented, or sun-damaged facial skin, using a
chemical solution to peel away skin's top layers. Works best on fair, thin
skin with superficial wrinkles.
- Length -
15 minutes
to 2 hours.
- Anaesthesia -
None.
Sedation & EKG monitoring may be used
- In/Outpatient -
Outpatient.
- Side effects -
Stinging,
Throbbing, Tingling, Swelling, Redness; Sensitivity to sun, Lightening of
treated skin, loss of ability to tan.
- Risks -
Tiny whiteheads, Infection, Scarring, Flare-up
of skin allergies, Fever blisters, Cold sores, Abnormal color changes
(possibly permanent).
- Recovery -
Back to
work same day for Glycolic acid back to work same day. Fading of
redness a few hours. TCA - new skin within 5 to 10 days.
Sun precautions strict for all peels.
