Breast Reconstruction
- Procedure - Recreate the breast using implant or tissue based
techniques. Additional procedures to recreate the nipple and areola
are performed as well. Opposite breast reshaping may also be done to
improve the overall result.
- Length - 2 to 6 hours.
- Anaesthesia - General.
- In/Outpatient - Outpatient or Inpatient depending on the procedure
performed.
- Side effects - Swelling, Soreness, Tightness of the reconstructed
breast, Change in sensation, Bruising, Numbness.
- Risks -
Infection,
Bleeding, Fluid collection, Excessive scar tissue, Conspicuous scars, Skin
or tissue loss, Delayed or Poor wound healing Uneven position or size
between both breasts or nipples, Need for revision surgery.
- Recovery - Back to work 1 to 2 weeks. Strenuous activities - 1 to
2
months. Fading of scars several months to a year.
