Augmentation Mammaplasty, Breast Augmentation, or Breast Enlargement with
Breast Implants (Saline or Silicone)
- Procedure - Enhance the size of breasts using inflatable implants filled
with saline or silicone gel
- Length - 1 to 2 hours.
- Anaesthesia - General.
- In/Outpatient - Outpatient.
- Side effects - Temporary soreness, Swelling, Change in nipple sensation,
Bruising, and Breast sensitivity to stimulation for a few weeks.
- Risks - Capsular contracture (hardening of internal scar tissue that
forms around the implant that may lead to firmness or tightness), Deflation,
Bleeding, or Infection, Change in sensation of the nipples or breast skin
temporary or permanent, Possible need for implant removal or replacement,
Possible need for revision or additional surgery.
- Recovery - Back to work in a few days. Physical contact with breasts 3 to
4 weeks. Fading of scars several months to a year or more.
